FanDuel is known as the most popular daily fantasy sports gaming site in the industry. Started in January 2009, initially as a web-based prediction market game, they switched gears in July 2009 to become a daily fantasy sports gaming site. FanDuel has the largest live events, prize pool tournaments, and player base.

The criticism of FanDuel has been that their interface is not friendly for higher volume players, the salaries are too loose, and the roster setups are too stringent. With that being said, there is no denying that FanDuel is a marketing machine when it comes to acquiring new players into daily fantasy sports and should be commended for such achievements.

Software and Interface

The FanDuel lobby is very clean and simple. The contests are laid out with the description, salary cap, contest size, prize pool, and start time. Filters are available on the top of the lobby and left-hand side of the page to easily find a contest that best fits your desires.

When you enter a contest and prepare to make a roster, this screen is also very clean and simple. This is one of FanDuel's biggest strengths, especially for new users. The roster management tools are also very strong when it comes to Import/Export lineup features. The import lineup button is below the last player when you make a roster. It will show all of your lineups for the current day and list all of the players in those lineups. Quick player swap is another great feature that FanDuel has fine-tuned, especially on mobile.

Win or Play Again –FanDuel will credit your entry fee (up to $120) if you don't win your first contest. The Entry Fee Refund Offer is available to new users who create an account and deposit funds. Eligible players who do not win a prize in their first contest will be refunded one entry fee for that contest, up to the maximum amount specified in the offer. The maximum refund for a deposit of $200 or more is $120. Refunds are credited back into player's FanDuel account within 72 hours of contest completion, and are to be used for additional play. Withdrawals will be available under the same terms as all funds in player's account. Deposited funds must be entered into contests.

FanDuel Points (FDP) – FanDuel Points (FDPs) are FanDuel's reward program. You earn FDPs every time you enter a money game, whether you win or lose. Your current FDP balance is shown in the top right of your FanDuel screen, and the number you earned last month is shown on your My Account section. The amount of points you receive for entering a contest is displayed in the contest 'help' popup on the lobby and the draft screen. You can spend FDPs on entering contests, and if you earn enough FDPs you will be eligible for monthly freerolls. The more you earn, the more you are rewarded. They issue 10 FDP for every $1 spent on entry fees and for each 2400 FDP you get the equivalent of $1 in entry fees

Weekly Depositors Freeroll – The Weekly Depositors' Freeroll is open to users who make a deposit between Friday and Thursday (midnight ET) for entry the following Sunday. The freeroll is typically a $250 prize pool consisting of 10 entries into a large prize pool tournament.

Users who qualify for the freeroll will receive an email invite with a link to enter on Friday afternoons, for the Sunday Freeroll. Also, the WDF link will appear in your contest lobby. Make sure your filter settings are marked appropriately (Current sport checked, Size = 21+, Fee slider = FREE, Salary Cap = Check ALL). If you do not qualify for the specific week's freeroll, you will be denied access to enter.

Monthly FDP Freerolls – Based on how many FDP you earn in the month, you can also qualify for entry to monthly FDP Freerolls. The required number of FDP and payouts vary each month. You don't need to spend FDP to enter these freerolls. Note that FDP will count towards the month in which they are awarded. Since FDP are now awarded when games settle, FDP for contests entered on the last day of the month will often count towards your total for the following month.

You may enter as many of these four contests as you've exceeded the minimum FDP threshold for. So if you have earned 16,000 monthly FDP, you may enter Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The FDP freerolls are shown in the lobby a few days before the end of the month. These are only visible if you have qualified to enter. If you have qualified and do not see the FDP freerolls even once they've been posted, it probably is because of your Home screen filter settings. Make sure that you are not filtering out free contests and that you have selected a 'Start Time' of either 'All' or 'Next available'.

Bronze: $1,500 NFL Freeroll
Requires minimum of 1,000 monthly FDP ($100 in monthly entry fees)

Silver: $2,500 NFL Freeroll
Requires minimum of 5,000 monthly FDP ($500 in monthly entry fees)

Gold: $4,000 NFL Freeroll
Requires minimum of 15,000 monthly FDP ($1500 in monthly entry fees)

Platinum: $7,000 NFL Freeroll
Requires minimum of 50,000 monthly FDP ($5000 in monthly entry fees)

Is FanDuel Safe?

help98Trust Score

FanDuel is considered low-risk, with an overall Trust Score of 98 of 99. FanDuel is a legal online sportsbook available to anyone in New Jersey, West Virginia, Indiana, and Pennsylvania state lines. Trust Score is determined by a number of factors, such as years in business, legal status, and global footprint, amongst others.

Bets Offered

Overview: FanDuel Sportsbook offers over 100 bets on NFL and NBA games, and over 50 bets on NHL and soccer games. Popular bet types include spreads, moneylines, totals, parlays, round-robins, futures, props, and live bets.

Props: FanDuel offers an array of team and player props. Bettors can wager on whether LeBron James will score over or under 26 points on a given night, as well as how many field goals will be made during an NFL game. There are enough props to keep bettors satisfied no matter what sports are in season.

Bet-Back Feature: FanDuel's cash-out feature allows you to amend your original bet, allowing you to lock in a profit or loss. Bettors can settle their bet (or a portion of their bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish.

Odds Boosts: FanDuel offers bettors a daily odds boost on a few select bets each day. Odds boosts act like a sale at a retail store, offering more incentive to make each bet. For example, FanDuel discounted the odds of Michael Thomas scoring a touchdown in week 11 from -180 to -120.

Live Betting

FanDuel's live betting experience is fantastic. FanDuel is one of the only sportsbooks that allow you to stream games live from its app. Right now, select soccer and tennis games are available.

FanDuel offers live prop bets such as Over/Under total yards - Kirk Cousins. You can bet pitch-by-pitch for baseball games, as well as drive-by-drive for NFL games. With 5G rolling out soon, live betting will only get better. FanDuel uses a live match tracker to display what team is attacking, as well as in-game statistics. Live betting at FanDuel is an all-around win.

Customer Service

FanDuel offers 24/7 live chat and email support, as well as telephone support from 10:00, am to 8:00 pm. Customer service is generally useful and informative.

FanDuel Sportsbook App

The FanDuel Sportsbook App is one of the better apps available for sports betting. Not all customer support and educational pages are completely transferred over from the FanDuel website, sometimes causing the app to enter FanDuel's pages online. Aside from that, FanDuel offers players a well-rounded mobile experience. I had no issues navigating to different sports and bets, and lines updated quickly when I selected new games.

Gallery

Education

Education: FanDuel's education section is a small blemish on an otherwise shiny product. FanDuel explains different bet types, as well as what bets are available for each league. Examples of bet types are not given, making it challenging for first-time bettors to learn how to bet.

The Duel: The Duel is an extension of the FanDuel website that covers daily fantasy sports and sports betting. TheDuel provides users advice, injury reports, and articles on both DFS and sports betting. The Duel is a unique offering, but accessing it is not as easy as it could be.
